Bee Vang Moua, Education Committee Chair
Bio
As the current Director of Hmong Program at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, Bee has supervised and run the program for over 10 years and taught Hmong for over 15 years. Her experiences teaching Hmong in higher education also includes being adjunct faculty at Saint Catherine University, Century College, as well as Augsburg College. In her years of directing the Hmong Program in the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Department, she has also published a textbook, training materials for teachers in K-College, created innovative study abroad programs to China and Thailand, hosted educators and researchers abroad in Vietnam, attended leadership delegations to represent Hmong Americans in China, and much more. Much of her work outside of teaching have been in training Hmong language teachers on teaching pedagogy, best practices with bilingual curriculum, language reclamation work, student-centered learning, and community-based programming. She's also created and run successfully Hmong camps as part of the Maplewood Historical Society summer access programs on the farm, gives annual keynote presentations on leadership, gender equity, cultural competence, and diversity. Bee attained her BA from Metropolitan State University and her Masters of Eduction from Concordia College.
